My Cuties

Luke loves his rain boots!

pretty much what they do everyday
In his hideout
So Sweet

Crocs make the BEST shovel, scoop, bucket, etc...

My kids literally went outside through the doggie door in their PJ's this morning without me knowing about it. I was busy putting laundry away and out they went. At least they both but
their crocs on before venturing out.
I love some of the shots I got of the two of them together. So glad they are so close!

Yay for Summer!

Love the face!
Cheese! she was cleaning the water table
Running, running, and more running
Cheese!

This is Luke's last week of school and we have had some warm (somewhat hot) days around here
so I am in full
summer mode already
The kids didn't go to bed until nearly 9:00 last night which if you know my kids
that is really late!
They were having so much fun running around outside that I just
couldn't tell them they had to come inside.

Luke's favorite things to do outside: In order
1. play in water (anything with swimming)
2. search for bugs, warms
3. chase birds and squirrels
4. dig in the dirt
5. find cool rocks and then clean them up with an old toothbrush
6. LOOK at the flowers

Kailyn's favorite things to do outside: In order
1. play in water
2. swing
3. PICK flowers ... which is not allowed from our pots
(which she seems to FORGET every few minutes and chooses punishment over stopping)
4. play in dirt
5. Sidewalk chalk
6. Find bugs

Ashely and Audrey invited us over for an ice cream party last Thursday.
The kids were on spring break so it was a fun thing to do together.
The kids loved it!
Thank you Ashley and Audrey for a fun afternoon!

Story Time

My dear husband has reminded me that I have neglected to document some classic stories that we will not want to forget.

Time: March 2011
Setting: our backyard Drive
I was pushing both kids on the swings on our swingset. Kailyn says, "push me really high momma". Me, "ok, hold on tight sis". She has been swinging for quite some time as high as i could get her on the swing. The entire time I was reminding her to hold on tight. She loves to lean back and just let her hair fall back and stare into the sky while she is swinging. Are you picturing it?? You know what's about to happen right? Yup, she let go with one hand which initiated the spiral, out of control swing, leading to her flipping backwards out of the swing. She did a complete back flip landing on her hands and forehead. I was paniced and shaking! During this little event her boot had flown off. That little girl stood up, brushed off her face (full of dirt) and started crying for her BOOT! Then, she got back on the swing and said, "push me high again momma." Once I got her going she hollered, "I'm a cowboy!".
Luke, "I think I'm done swinging now"

Ah Dirt

thinking about climbing a tree
he found out very quickly that he is too big for the baby swings
just hanging around
on the run

classic
this is how she looked in a matter of minutes
here she comes!!

Luke is always picking flowers for me - such a sweetie!!

My kids LOVE to be outside! Luke is already sporting his usual spring farmer's tan on the back of his neck. Me....I love to be outside too and for the kids to enjoy it so much, BUT.... I don't love the chunks of dirt being dragged into the house! Their bathroom gets filthy from them coming in to wash their hands, finger prints all over the walls, finger prints, finger prints, finger prints!!!
Here's the things - my two are very curious and have been digging for bugs, worms, etc. I love to see their little imaginations in action so I can deal with a little (or copious amounts) of dirt. I just need to buy windex and clorox spray by the case!
