Day 2 with the Cast
Lucas slept great last night!! I was a little concerned that he would be uncomfortable with his cast, but it didn't seem to bother him a bit. He went potty all by himself (I'm sure you are thinking whoopty doo, but that was huge with his cast). Bonus - he didn't pee all over the floor although he did get a little bit on his pj bottoms, but I still count it as a huge success! He even said, "Mom, I like this cast and I think Jackson would like it too. Maybe he should fall so he can get one too". Although I am thrilled he doesn't find his cast torturous (for now anyway) I had to explain to him that we wouldn't want our friends to be hurt. Luke's response, "oh...right". I love this kid!
Maybe I should go back and explain the peeing on the floor thing. Those of you who do not have little boys have no idea what I'm talking about. I have found out that little boys sometime have a difficult time aiming their stream in the morning or when distracted by their little sister. Some helpful hints for those who are entering this stage with their boys or will someday have a little boy. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT under any circumstances take their matchbox car they have strategically "parked" on the sink while they are doing their thing. They will turn to see what is happening to their beloved toy and you might just get peed on (or at least your floor, shower curtain, or rugs might take the hit). It has ALL happened to me! He is getting much better with this, thank God! There have been some prayers sent up that my little man would just keep his urine in the toilet!! Enough about that!
I was a little concerned that Lucas the Lion would not be able to make his debut on the streets of Colony West subdivision due to his arm not fitting into his costume. Do not fret - we tried it on today and it fits like a glove (literally like a glove), but it will work. He is super excited to go to Mosey's house for some candy (be prepared Millers because we will come a knocking even if you don't have your light on). More cast updates to come!

Poor Little Lucas
ah, look how sad that clunky cast looks on his arm!!
My little man broke his arm/wrist last night while playing on the couch. I didn't exactly see what happened, but I know he somehow fell off the couch. He must have gone off head first catching himself with his hands, but who knows. He cried a lot and then said that he just wanted to go to bed. He didn't want to talk to us, he didn't want stories, he just wanted me to lay down with him for a little bit. He was sound asleep within minutes. He woke up once in the night crying that his arm hurt and he wanted medicine. This am he was guarding his arm and not using it all, but said it didn't really hurt. Classic presentation for a fracture in a child. We had appointment with family practitioner at 9 am, xrays done, off to ortho, long arm cast and sling placed, home by 11am. Whew!! I have terrible nasal/head congestion right now and had no coffee = horrendous headache! Most of my conversations with Luke today went something like this: Luke -"My arm's all better now, you can take this cast off". Me - "I'm sorry buddy, but you have to wear this for a few weeks". Luke - whimpers while tossing his head backwards. We had this same conversation over and over again. After dinner I was off to study so Mark had to do the first bath with the cast on. I heard that it went well, but Luke said, "well that wasn't very much fun" after it was over. Bright spot of the day was when Jackson stopped by with a balloon and a new truck for Lucas. He was thrilled!!! He played with his new truck all afternoon/evening. We have wonderful friends!!
Costumes
Here they come! Lucas giving us a "roar"
KC anxiously waiting for the kids to come out!
In his classroom waiting for everyone to get there before starting the parade
Lucas had is fall parade at school yesterday. He dressed up as a lion this year which he was very excited about. He plays in this costume at home for extended periods of time, but at school he couldn't stand having the fuzzy hood up and want me to immediately take it off once the parade was over.

Things to Do
I have so many things I want to accomplish AFTER I take boards. This test has been hanging over me for months now and I'm so ready to have it over! Things that I want to do: sign Kailyn up for gymnastics (those of you who are around her a lot know she NEEDS this), paint a chair, paint a dresser, learn how to use photoshop, maybe sign up for a photography class. I'm so excited about my projects!
Reasons why Kailyn needs gymnastics class:
1. she says, "watch me" before she does forward rolls on the couch.
2. She hangs on everything - counters, door handles, dressers, oven (yikes), etc...
3. She is CONSTANTLY on her head. She absolutely loves being upside down
4. She is full of energy
5. She jumps off of anything and everything... chairs, couches, stairs. last week I walked into Luke's room to see them holding hands and counting before leaping off stools together. It was like they were jumping into a pool!! They landed in a heap giggling the entire time....oh my!!!
Maybe a lot of other toddlers are also like this, but my first was the exact opposite. He waited for me to help him off of his bed, etc. This is all new to me!
For me:
Luke's favorite things currently: helicopters, dinosaurs, cars, dragons, bingos (yellow cars/trucks), his soft puppy dog (that was given to him when he was a baby, but a had a hole in it that I just stitched yesterday). He is thrilled with his "new" puppy.
Kailyn's favorites - Babies, puppies, and kitties. She secretly loves dinosaurs and dumptrucks (plays with them when Luke is at school).

Ah P90X
Oh how I have missed my P90x. We took a little time off from our beloved workouts to try out Insanity. Four bad knees later and much therapy we have returned to our staple workouts! I will never stray again.
